First Visit for Children

Healthy teeth and gums are essential for a healthy body. From their first baby teeth to their adult teeth, you can help your children enjoy a lifetime of good oral health with proper care at home, a balanced diet, and regular dental visits. Explain to your child that the dentist is a friendly doctor who helps take care of teeth. Talk about the visit in a positive, matter-of-fact way.

Dr. Tournell will gently examine your child’s teeth and gums, checking for decay and other problems. If necessary, the child’s teeth are cleaned. Preventative dental care like fluoride treatments and sealants — a barrier that protects the chewing surfaces of the back teeth — are also available to save time, money and teeth.

Dr. Tournell believes excellence in dental care begins with a thorough assessment of the current condition and health of your smile. For this reason, a new patient consult includes intra-oral photos, x-rays, oral cancer screening, and periodontal screening to detect any potential barriers to optimal dental health. In addition, records will be made of your existing dental work to date. After assessment, additional services may be scheduled.

Financial Policy

We request payment in full at the time of service. We accept Mastercard, Visa, American Express and Discover. If you are in need of an extended finance option, we also work with CareCredit, which offers three, six or twelve month “same as cash” terms, or longer terms with an interest-bearing revolving charge designed to meet your treatment plan needs. Just ask one of the administrative staff for an application, or visit CareCredit online in advance.

Insurance

We will bill your private care insurance plan as a courtesy. We will request payment in full for services from you, and will let you collect the insurance funds that are due to you. It is important that you recognize the insurance you have is a legal contract between you and your insurance company. Our office is not, and cannot be a part of that legal contract, therefore, you are responsible for all charges incurred in our office.
