Comprehensive Exams
During a comprehensive exam, we will do what is necessary to collect the most information possible from your mouth, such as digital radiography (x-rays) and gum assessment. We also take intra-oral photos of your teeth and Dr. Tournell will do an oral cancer screening. We search for any signs of decay while examining the condition of your teeth, including a thorough search for any signs of periodontal disease. Early detection can save a smile!
Cleanings
Professional cleanings are a part of a routine check up. During a cleaning, we remove any plaque and tartar build up, identify areas that need more at-home attention, and treat the enamel with care and polishing services.
Fluoride
Fluoride is essential in preventing tooth decay. By remineralizing teeth, fluoride makes tooth enamel more resistant to acid attacks from plaque bacteria and sugars. Although it is found naturally in food and water, sometimes a treatment is necessary to prevent certain conditions from developing.
Fluoride is especially essential for children up to 18 years old. Since it’s the main time of permanent tooth development, using fluoride for strengthening and developing is advised.
Pediatric
As your children are growing and developing teeth, Dr. Tournell will ensure their oral care is the best it can be. Our staff takes our pediatric services to the next level by providing gentle, efficient and thorough cleanings and treatments.
Cancer Screening
Dr. Tournell has the privilege of providing oral cancer screening for our patients. We perform a routine examination during your visits that include visual searching for any red or white patches or sores, and we feel the mouth and neck tissue to check for any abnormalities.
